Brickwork contractors serving New Alresford building projects
Brick and block laying available. Openings and ties detailed. Existing masonry matched carefully.
Build straight, stable masonry from sound setting out
Brick and block walls depend on more than stacking units until they reach roof height. We set out the work to suit the foundations, openings and agreed dimensions, then maintain bonding and level courses as construction rises. Lintels, wall ties and movement details are included where required by the design. Damp-proof courses and insulation also need to connect correctly with the surrounding build. These details support the structure and later finishes, while helping windows, floors and roofing meet the walls where the drawings say they should.

Choose masonry for appearance and performance
Facing brickwork forms part of the finished appearance, while blockwork may provide structural support, insulation build-up or a background for render and internal finishes. Where new work joins an existing property, we consider brick size, colour, texture and mortar so the addition relates sensibly to the original walls. We protect fresh masonry from unsuitable weather and allow for curing. Coordination with foundations, openings and the roof keeps the wall performing as part of the whole building rather than as an isolated trade.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between brickwork and blockwork?
Facing bricks often provide the visible outer finish, while blocks can form structural or inner leaves and backgrounds for render. The wall design determines their roles, insulation and connecting details.
Can new bricks match an existing house exactly?
We consider size, colour, texture and mortar, but age and weathering can make an exact match difficult. The aim is a sensible visual relationship using suitable available materials and careful detailing.
Why are movement joints and wall ties needed?
Wall ties connect relevant masonry leaves, while movement details help accommodate expected changes without uncontrolled cracking. Their positions and type follow the wall design and surrounding structure.
