Timber frame buildings planned precisely in New Alresford

Frame and openings aligned. Thermal layers coordinated. Moisture protection detailed.

Set out the structure accurately from the start

A timber frame forms the load-bearing shape of a building or extension, so small setting-out errors can become large problems at windows, floors and roof connections. We work from the structural design to coordinate fabrication and erection with the foundation dimensions. Openings, levels and junctions are checked as the frame takes shape. Sheathing then helps stabilise and enclose the structure. Accuracy at this stage supports every later layer, from external finishes to internal linings, and saves a great deal of creative trimming.

Protect the frame and control heat loss

Timber needs to remain dry and the wall build-up must manage heat, air and moisture. We coordinate insulation, airtightness and vapour control while paying attention to thermal bridges around junctions and openings. Membranes, ventilation cavities and external finishes protect the frame from weather over its working life. We also plan how roofing, windows and service routes meet the structure. Each layer has a different job, and fitting them in the right order prevents gaps that are difficult to correct once linings are complete.

What you gain

A frame ready for every layer that follows

Levels line up correctly

We coordinate the frame with foundations, floors, windows and roof connections.

Thermal gaps reduced

We plan insulation and airtight layers around junctions and service routes.

Moisture kept in check

We use suitable membranes and cavities to help protect structural timber.

Frequently asked questions

What parts of a building can use timber frame construction?

A structural timber frame can form a complete building or an extension. Its suitability depends on the design, loads, foundations, external finish and how it connects to any existing construction.

How is a timber frame protected from moisture?

The wall build-up uses coordinated membranes, cavities and external finishes to manage water and vapour. Good detailing around openings, the roof and lower wall junctions is especially important.

Can services run through timber framed walls?

Yes, but their routes need planning so structural members, insulation and airtight layers are not damaged unnecessarily. We coordinate penetrations and internal linings with the agreed service layout.
